How to Revoke Gmail Sent Emails
In Gmail, there is a feature called “Undo Send” that allows you to recall or revoke an email shortly after sending it. Here’s how you can use this feature:
- Open Gmail: Go to the Gmail website (www.gmail.com) and log in to your account using your credentials.
- Enable “Undo Send”: Click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the Gmail interface to open the settings menu. From the dropdown menu, select “Settings.”
- Access the “Undo Send” settings: In the Settings menu, navigate to the “General” tab.
- Enable the “Undo Send” feature: Scroll down the General settings until you find the “Undo Send” option. Check the box next to “Enable Undo Send.”
- Set the cancellation period: Choose the cancellation period that determines how long you have to revoke a sent email. You can choose between 5, 10, 20, or 30 seconds. Select the desired duration from the provided options.
- Save changes: Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Save Changes” button.
Now that you have enabled the “Undo Send” feature, you can revoke a sent email within the specified cancellation period. Here’s how to do it:
- Send an email: Compose an email as you normally would and click on the “Send” button.
- Revoke the email: After sending the email, a yellow notification bar will appear at the top of the Gmail interface, giving you the option to “Undo.” Click on “Undo” within the cancellation period to revoke the sent email.
- Confirm revocation: Gmail will confirm that the email has been revoked and will return you to the draft version of the email. You can now make any necessary edits or simply discard the email.
Remember, the “Undo Send” feature in Gmail only allows you a limited time window to revoke the email, depending on the cancellation period you set. Once the cancellation period elapses or the recipient has already opened the email, you will no longer be able to revoke it.
